We are seeking an experienced engineering manager with expertise in RF Metrology and Cellular 4G and 5G protocol stack to staff and lead a new Applications Engineering Team for Apple in Germany.

Our small team of extraordinary engineers designs and produces precision RF test equipment for use in calibrating and testing cellular, WiFi, BT, mmWave, UWB and NFC radios in millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs, Vision, Watches and AirPods. All members of the team bring their own unique expertise to collectively take internal Apple products from concept to mass production. Each internal product is designed to Apple's exacting standards resulting in test equipment that maintains the quality, accuracy and function of commercially available offerings.

The role requires deep expertise in RF Metrology and Cellular stack, communication theory, and RF test systems. The role also requires strong organisational leadership talent, a customer focus, and excellent communication skills to ensure customer success and drive product adoption for the growing Instrument Engineering team at Apple.

The candidate is expected to have a track record of building strong partnerships with cross-functional teams and possess exceptional executive communication skills.
International and domestic travel up to 15% is required

Preferred Qualifications
Strong experience writing object oriented software
Experience automating RF test equipment from vendors such as Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, National Instruments, LitePoint, or Anritsu.
Recent experience with data analysis of RF parameters
Deep knowledge of 3GPP 4G LTE and 5G NR protocol stack
Recent experience using both non-signaling and signaling cellular test equipment
Recent work experience in applications engineering or pre/post-sales engineering and experience working closely with customers

Minimum Qualifications
Extensive industry experience and demonstrable experience scaling & managing RF engineering teams
Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills both verbal and written with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly and succinctly to diverse audiences
Excellent understanding of RF fundamentals, 3GPP cellular stack, DSP and communications theory
Strong experience with RF measurements for cellular technologies such as 4G LTE and 5G NR
Experience developing scalable software in Python, C++ or Matlab
Bachelor’s degree is needed, and we highly value Master’s or above. Relevant disciplines include Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Maths and Physics.
